8-year-old struck by vehicle in Matthews County
An 8-year-old is listed in serious condition after being hit by a driver this morning on Route 14.
Virginia State Police say at 7:39 a.m. on Nov. 17, they responded to the 17300 block of Route 14 after, allegedly, Robert L. Armellino, 69, struck an 8-year-old boy attempting to board a school bus in the 17300 block of John Clayton Highway.
Armellino, who was driving a Dodge Neon, failed to stop for the bus, even though the lights were activated, according to a Virginia State Police news release. He reportedly did not see the child or the bus.
The child is in serious condition at Riverside Regional.
Armellino was charged with failure to stop for a school bus, according to the release.
