Amateur Radio Field Day to be held at Abingdon Park
The public can meet and talk with Middle Peninsula ham radio operators June 23 and June 24.
Ham radio operators provide communications services during emergencies, including wildfires, winter storms, tornadoes and other unexpected events. During the annual Field Day event, residents will see for themselves what amateur radio service is about as operators conduct public demonstrations of emergency communications abilities.
The Middle Peninsula Amateur Radio Club sponsors Field Day with demonstrations at Abingdon Park, 7055 Powhatan Drive, Hayes.
Will Grant, the club's Field Day coordinator, invites the public to visit the site from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 23 to meet local hams, see ham radio’s new capabilities and learn how to get a FCC radio license.
