Six Gloucester residents complete Chesty Puller Memorial 10K run
Six runners from Gloucester completed the fifth annual Chesty Puller Memorial Twin Bridge 10K run on Saturday, June 23 in West Point.
Danny Weatherly, 43, and John Beck, 44, were among the fastest Gloucester runners to finish. Weatherly completed the race in 50 minutes, 29 seconds. Beck clocked in at 51:18. Locals Andrew Smith, Jill Smith, Yon White and Marchan Million also completed the race.
A total of 129 runners finished the 10-kilometer race.
The course certified by USA Track and Field
Proceeds from the race benefited the West Point Historical Society and the Wounded Warrior Project.
Russell Reed, 19, of Onemo, was the men's overall winner with a time of 38:42. Stephanie Cairo, 20, of Mechanicsville, set a women's 20-24 age group record to win in 43:45.
